Mr. Wang's Egg Drop Soup
(Serves 2 to 3)
1/2 ounce chicken breast, chopped
6 shrimp (optional)
6 scallops (optional)
4 snow peas, shredded
5 bamboo shoots, diced
4 mushrooms
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon cooking wine
1/2 teaspoon MSG (optional)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon white or black pepper
6 cups water
4 teaspoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 green onion, diced
Boil 6 cups water and add chicken, shrimp, scallops and
boil again.
Add snow peas, bamboo shoots and mushrooms and boil again.
Add salt, sugar, MSG, pepper and cooking wine, stirring
evenly.
Mix 4 teaspoons cornstarch with 1/3 cup water and add to
soup while stirring evenly.
Add beaten egg to soup, stir slowly, then remove from heat.
To serve, sprinkle with chopped green onion and 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil.
